Jewish in Ventura

Ventura County has a vibrant, active and loving community that welcomes you.

Young Families

Mishpacha

Ventura, Camarillo, Ojai

The Federation welcomes all families to join us for our child-centered programs!  Our young families program, Mishpacha, is a wonderful way to meet and connect with other local Jewish and interfaith families.  This is a Federation sponsored program that is free to participants.  Offered in partnership with local synagogues, this introduction to Jewish community life does not require temple membership.  We center our gatherings around music, story-telling, Jewish learning and good food.

Education

Temple Ner Ami - Newman Torah School

Our qualified, professional instructors operate an outstanding Torah school for students in Pre-K through High School grades.

Gan Camarillo Preschool

Our Jewish values drive the curriculum, environment and school culture. We model and encourage kindness, respect, compassion, confidence and responsibility. Judaism teaches that the formative years of early childhood are vitally important. A child is viewed as a seed that we nurture with the utmost care, since the seed's every experience will shape and color the quality of its matured self.

Temple Beth Torah Pre-School

The National Association for the Education of Young Children, (NAEYC) guidelines are the pillars for Early Childhood Education and the ones that we adhere to so that we may bring to our families quality programs, engaging curriculum, and the teachers they so deserve. Our approach promotes positive relationships among the families and staff to promote and encourage a child’s sense of individual worth.

Temple Beth Torah, Ventura - Torah School

Our goal is for Torah School to become a place where students want to go.  By creating positive feelings towards Torah School, students are more likely to continue learning about Judaism throughout their life.  We achieve this aim by balancing traditional methods of learning with more experiential forms of education.  As well as learning in the classroom, students experience Jewish values, traditions, histories, and cultures through a series of practical activities, both inside and outside the synagogue.  By approaching education in this manner, students can learn about Judaism in ways that are fun, engaging, interactive, and meaningful, and which provide relevance for their lives.

Lamplighters

Designed around traditional Jewish values, Lamplighters Jewish Academy seeks to inspire, educate and invigorate the next generation of learners. Through rigorous learning in a multi-age classroom we aim to develop students who are confident, compassionate, critical thinkers willing and able to inspire those around them.
